Linn Fischer
Linn Fischer was born in 1978 in Israel and has been living in Berlin since 2010.
She is a graphic designer and artist whose work deals with issues of identity, love, family, and also her German-Jewish memories.
Growing up in a German-Jewish family had a great influence on her life. An integral part of her practice is to embrace differences that integrate to create new meaning. This Archetype - of Thesis - Antithesis - Synthesis, lingers at the base of her work. The form appears in works of hers; in a conceptual manner and also in the method itself: the dialog between image and text. One example is the work ‘Careful Writing Is A Dead Writing’ which is a collection of collages based on texts by Charles Bukowski, a German American writer.
The dialogue between text and image also plays a significant role in the book „Man Overboard,“ which she designed. Letters of her father are reinterpreted by Fischer and thus the story of the rise and fall of a captain is told through a series of images. Another example is the „inbox dialogue“ project, where parallel visual dialogues with various artists are taking place. Fischer‘s work is about overlapping differences and reinterpretation through the displacement of the existing.
Since 2013, Linn has been participating in the magazine „R U W !“ which publishes an edition
of 50 copies each year with original works by the members of the magazine.
