Lisa Bergmann
Curation and art mediation
Art and art-making are subject to a communicative process. Art creates affects and offers a field of tension in which the viewers find aesthetic and content-related attitudes. This is the basis of its social significance. Since artists develop their work in a communal context, it is natural and not too much for art to deal with aesthetic questions as well as political issues.
In order for art to become accessible and achievable for all, it is necessary to move away from the traditional establishment of elitist spheres of very limited representation towards opening up, appreciating and mapping our society in its entirety.
In addition to a discursive focus on the possibilities of social paradigm shifts, Lisa Bergmann places great emphasis on the inherent weight of the material and the urgency of the aesthetic statement. She promotes a way of working that sees text, sound, colour, space and performance as equal means.
A slight geographical focus is on artists from Romania and Poland. In terms of cultural policy, she is active in the Bündnis für gerechte Kunst- und Kulturarbeit Baden-Württemberg (Alliance for Fair Art and Cultural Work in Baden-Württemberg). She campaigns for an appropriate appreciation of the importance of culture, the independent scene, and above all for the introduction of exhibition remuneration and gender-equitable representation.
