________
On the occasion of the newly created series of works “Always back, back on track” (2021-2022), ato and Norina Quinte will show the works in a specially conceived room installation from April 15, 2022 to May 20, 2022.
An evening with Von Silberland!
On Friday, May 13, 2022, art agent Norina Quinte and artist Von Silberland invite you to a discussion entitled “Analog-Digital?”. The aim of the evening is to discuss the possibilities of digital image production in contrast to analog techniques and to identify possible points of intersection. Registration is requested.
He himself says about his work:
"The images in that work consist of several layers, each created on its own, as a single object.
Just like a still life, which consists of several elements and objects or is arranged, I then composed each picture in this world. Just like a still life, which consists of several elements and objects or is arranged, I then composed each image of this work with the different layers. The difference to a traditional still life is that in my work the abstract layer is treated as an actual object, which makes the work visually more structured and formal.
Despite the strong abstraction, however, there are object-like interruptions, rhythmic progressions, subtle lines and spontaneous representations of form and plasticity.
The significance of the digital as an art form and medium has occupied me for some time. Especially when it comes to linking it with more “traditional” works. It is clear that “working digitally” is rarely practiced in the classical artistic field (painting, drawing, sculpture) and does not (yet?) play an enormous role. Especially if we compare it with film, sound and video games, for example.
The question is what a transfer of digital image design into a “more classical artistic genre” could look like. What influence would this have on paper, canvas, sculpture? Do digital tools enrich the work and if so, in what way? Or do I end up returning to my analog toolbox in favor of an analog pictorial effect?
What I can already say today: The possibility of sketching and digitally processing an idea faster than ever before - thanks to new technology - is already very tempting and excites me... However, we will explore together what influence this will have on the “image quality”.” VS
The work was realized with the kind support of the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts BW.
