Hanna Heidt

Hanna Heidt's artistic work deals with socio-political themes that become accessible through their everyday realisation. In paintings, prints and drawings, she works mainly figuratively, creating creatures that are mostly genderless and have something animal-like about them. In this form, free of clothing, clear gender and status, they invite the viewer to serve as a projection surface and to empathise with their respective situation.

Heidt embeds bodies, gestures and graphic elements in colourful atmospheres. The complex content depicted often contrasts with the lovely pastel colours used. Carefully arranged, they create scenes that can be read like comic panels and are thought-provoking. She was already working as a sign language interpreter during her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe. She has lived and worked in Mannheim since February 2023.
