Künstler Verena Schmidt

Verena Schmidt

Verena Schmidt grew up in Berlin and Wiesbaden and studied at the Berlin University of the Arts from 2008 to 2013. In 2014, she completed her master's degree under Pia Fries. She furthered her studies at Emily Carr University in Vancouver and has participated in residencies and symposia in various countries, including Italy, Norway, Sweden, and South Korea. In 2011, she exhibited her works as part of a group exhibition at the German-Japanese Contemporary Art Exhibition in Tokyo. Verena Schmidt has continued to gain recognition through solo and group exhibitions at notable venues such as the Georg Kolbe Museum in Berlin, Leipziger Baumwollspinnerei in Leipzig, Nassauischer Kunstverein in Wiesbaden, and Apartment Neunzehn in Karlsruhe.

Since 2017, she has been living and working in Wiesbaden, and in 2020, she established her studio at the artists' association Walkmühle. Schmidt's body of work lies at the intersection of painting, sculpture, and intervention. Through collective and collaborative projects with fellow artists, curators, and art scholars, she constantly explores new ideas in art and her “things” influence both small and large-scale aspects of the world.
