Kristiane Kegelmann
Contradiction is an integral part of Kristiane Kegelmann’s work. This manifests itself as combinations of unexpected materials. Lavender and steel. Traces of beetroot on cement. Born in Munich in 1990, the artist poses questions on the nature and origin of materials. Temporality plays a role for the viewer, as Kegelmann's installations are on the one hand fragmentary and ephemeral, while on the other hand the stable elements, such as objects welded from steel, create strong contrasts and, as fixed forms, provide aesthetic anchor points in her installations. While her mastery of these materials is clearly evident, she is more interested in leaving behind visible traces of her creative process than striving for "smooth perfectionism".
From her work as a pâtissier, Kegelmann moved onto art and objects. She lives and works in Berlin.
