SERIOSITÄT - INFO
Small vernissage on 04/22/2022 at 19h in front of the “Karlsruher Schaufenster” (KTG)
Kaiserstrasse 72-74, 76133 Karlsruhe
Under the title “Seriosität - INFO”, the 3rd part of the consecutive work can be seen from 04/22/2022 in the Karlsruhe shop window.
The video installation will be shown between December 2021 and July 2022 in various
Karlsruhe shop windows.
In front of a large-format display, on which the daily news live stream can be seen, the two artists place a specially built mirror grid that recomposes all content and image layers and opens up unusual perspectives.
The starting point of the work is the question of how serious reporting works and the rules of the game.
How can these be turned on their head and what new image content is generated - for example through a multi-perspective image structure?
Unlike the usual reporting from reputable sources, which aims to suggest as objective an impression as possible, Kretschmer and Breitkopf are concerned with subjectivization, which includes the viewer's perspective, even making it the core theme. With all possible interpretations of the content, the two artists are not concerned with alternative points of view, but with countless variations with a single origin.
What role does the position of the viewer play in today's media consumption? And what diverse narratives can be derived from this?
This will be explored in the coming months by approaching the work, distancing oneself from it and repeatedly putting one's own perspective to the test.
