Francis Karat

Francis Karat is an interdisciplinary artist collective working in film, sound art, and product design. Through a hybrid, collaborative approach, they create immersive installations, performances, and conceptual formats. The collective critically explores artificial intelligence (AI) and its cultural and social implications, while also addressing themes such as collective intelligence, memory culture, ecological potentials, and societal utopias. Their artistic practice operates at the intersection of art, research, and technology. Their work has been presented at venues such as ZKM Karlsruhe and the Goethe Institute Shanghai. The collective has received the Grand Prize for New Photography from Canon and funding from UNESCO City of Media Arts and LBBW.
