Peter Piek
Peter Piek is a painter, multi-instrumentalist, performance artist, philosopher and author. He was born in Chemnitz, formerly Karl-Marx-Stadt, in 1981 and studied at the Leipzig Academy of Fine Arts from 2002 to 2006.
During this time, he founded the independent painting studies Malfront with Michael Goller. While travelling through the USA, China and Europe, he played numerous concerts and exhibited in over 30 countries over the course of several months. He is a three-time winner of the Youth Art Biennale, having been awarded the prize in 2000, 2002 and 2004.
His painting is characterised by vivid colours and superimposed elements. Piek views painting as a creative process, rather than a medium, that he also uses in his music and writing. He lives in Leipzig and works everywhere.
