Gedenktafel für Marlene Moeschke-Poelzig
As an artistic intervention, Hannah Cooke's memorial plaque in honor of Marlene Poelzig was unveiled on June 18 as part of the Women in Architecture Festival 2021.
Until recently, there was only a memorial plaque in honor of Hans Poelzig on the garden wall of the Poelzig House. Marlene Moeschke-Poelzig as the actual architect, on the other hand, was not mentioned at all. Such “details” make it clear where the focus has been placed in our society to this day. Women and their achievements were placed in the shadow of their famous husbands.
In order to give Marlene Moeschke-Poelzig the honor she deserves, Hannah Cooke renewed the memorial plaque. She based the design and dimensions on the previous memorial plaque for Hans Poelzig. The connection to Marlene's husband and children is still clearly visible in Cooke's work.
The original memorial plaque, which was placed in front of the house until winter 2020 and then removed by someone.
