Be part of our vision!
Are you a freelance curator looking to break new ground with artists in your network? At ato, you will be part of a vibrant network and online platform where you can showcase your artists' work, organize exhibitions, and present it online independently with plenty of support from us.
How can you apply?
Send us your application by June 1, 2026. Please note that you must collaborate with and recommend at least two artists. If you are selected, you can start working with those artists immediately, and they won't have to reapply.
How does payment work?
Instead of a fixed salary, you will earn a percentage of sales, ranging from a minimum of 15% to a maximum of 45%. This percentage is determined in advance in a transparent and individualised manner, based on the level of collaboration between the art agent and the artist.
What do we expect from you?
As a freelance art agent, your tasks include the following activities in particular:
- As the artist’s direct point of contact, networker and liaison, the agent plays a key role.
- As an agent, you are responsible for creating and curating up-to-date content for the artist's website, as well as assisting them with any questions or ideas they may have. You must stay informed about the artist’s development, new works and concepts. To this end, you maintain regular contact with the artist, serving as the bridge between them and ato.
- You will agree with your artists individually on the areas in which you wish to collaborate further. This can include public relations, intensive network expansion, exhibition implementation, support with grant applications and much more. The percentage share is accordingly adjusted using a transparent calculator.
- ato is there to advise you. For example, they can advise you on decisions such as adding new artworks, organising exhibitions, implementing artistic collaboration projects and securing grants.
- ato aims to support art agents in their work as effectively as possible, including through advisory services and networking opportunities.
- As an agent, you can join the ato agency model based on your professional skills and receive external job offers.
These tasks are handled by ato, which holds a 15% share:
- Providing the structure and online presentation of the works: ato provides the technical infrastructure and online presentation of the artworks.
- Contract management: ato provides written agreements that ensure transparency in collaboration between agents and ato.
- Consulting and pricing: ato provides a custom-developed calculator to assist with pricing.
- Online representation (website, social media, newsletter and news blog): professional online presence and monthly editorial newsletter.
- Online sales and leasing options: sales and leasing opportunities for artworks.
- Sales processing: ato professionally handles the entire sales process.
- Professional portrait photography — ato arranges professional portrait photography.
- Network: discounted hourly rates for a network spanning various disciplines, including photography, graphic design, IT, legal consulting and more.
- Artists’ social security contributions (KSK): ato pays these.
- Optional agency representation: you may be approached for projects by our ideas agency: www.agentur.ato.vision.
Become part of our vision as an artist!
Artists can also apply with their art agents. If you work with an art agent, it's best to apply with them or have them recommend you. Artists who apply with an agent have a much better chance of being accepted. Working with experienced curators makes it easier to showcase your art and get off to a successful start in the network.
