Introducing: Nadine Lemke

Portrait of the artist Nadine Lemkein front of a black background.

Nadine Lemke's work encompasses crochet installations, drawing and photography. Her work explores personal and social patterns, particularly the unconscious structures of connection and separation inscribed in the body, biography and collective memory through repetition. Using crochet as an open system, she creates an archive of shapes, knots, repetitions, and breaks, linking the historical connotations of female handicrafts with contemporary issues of self-empowerment, visibility, and materiality.

Her works move between textiles, space, and sculpture, transforming fragile structures into multi-layered settings that redefine space, origin, and identity.

At ato, the artist is represented by Francesca Romana Audretsch.

How effective is it to rely on traditional terms from art theory? Do they truly capture what we wish to express? Are they indispensable tools, or do they constrain our thinking and prevent us from considering new perspectives? Laura Helena Wurth has examined our glossary of art theory terms in great detail.

Exhibitions by artists from the ato network

ato's art network consists of a large number of artists and art agents. They are regularly invited to exhibitions or organise their own artistic interventions and public exhibition formats.

We present the current events from our network in our calendar. We cordially invite you to drop by!

As many people come from Karlsruhe or Berlin, a current exhibition can often be discovered in both cities. But of course also in other places.

Karlsruhe and Berlin have very different art scenes, which we are happy to inform you about. If you are interested, you can find more information here:
